• Installed WP onto my godaddy hosted website using the godaddy quick install system. GoDaddy shows wordpress as “installed.” The blog exists on the internet… https://menopausehormonenews.femalebraingoneinsane.com

BUT when I try to login, I can’t. I don’t get an error message, I just keep getting returned to the login screen.

I clicked on “forgot password,” entered my e-mail address and again the same thing…. I just keep getting returned to the same page again and again with no error message.

No, I do not have my caps lock key on. Yes, I know my username and password and e-mail address. Yes, I know how to login to WP since I manage a dozen different blogs which interface with websites on three different hosts.

This is the first time I have had any trouble installing or using WP with any hosting site. Just to make sure it’s not a problem with my computer or a temporary glitch with WP, I tried logging into a few of my other WP blogs and I had no problem. So the problem is with the Godaddy / WP interface – something’s not connecting.

Talked to Godaddy support and they were clueless. Their only two suggestions were to click on “forgot password” (which is part of the problem and therefore can’t be part of the solution) and to uninstall and reinstall WP, which I did to no avail.

WHAT DO I DO TO MAKE MY LOGIN WORK???

It’s very frustrating to have the site there, but not be able to use it!

  • As of right now, you have an error that you don’t have a wp-config file.

Since it looks like you have installed WP before and know how to configure it, my best guess is to completely remove the files and DB and start over.

I’ve done that before to cure WP install craziness myself.

    Hi Samboll

These instructions to reset the password require that I be logged into WP, which I can’t do. Any other ideas?

I just tried to reinstall AGAIN. Now this is the message I’m getting from WP…

You appear to have already installed WordPress. To reinstall please clear your old database tables first.

What “database tables” are they talking about specifically?

These instructions to reset the password require that I be logged into WP, which I can’t do

obviously you only read the 1st part of the link – there are other options where you don’t have to log in

It is talking about your MySQL DB. That is why I said to delete the DB too and start over.

Sorry to be such a knucklehead, but I need more information, please…
a_johnson… Can you please explain “delete the database too”…

What database am I deleting and where is it located?

I have installed WP onto four different webhosting sites and NEVER had this much trouble. I’m becoming homicidal with this… (or maybe suicidal… it’s hard to tell… I’m too tired…)

THANKS anyone who can help me…

When godaddy installed your WP site, it created a database too. Unfortunately, godaddys web site is a trainwreck so you might have to call support to find it. (Their support is helpful- great beyond belief.)

You want to delete the MySQL database associated with that web site, through PHPmyadmin. THEN, create a new database of a different name, copy-paste all the information into a text editor and save it for when you reinstall WP to your hosting account. Again, support can take you through all of this.

I had godaddy hosting for a while but left them to go with an easier to use web host. I still have my domains there.

Looks like the OP has her site up. ??

I would like to hear what she finally did to fix her install issues.

she finally took the advice offered here – in another thread
    https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/328972?replies=4

So in other words, she effectively did what I suggested twice then someone else suggested the same thing and she finally did it. She thanks him and bashes everyone else.

    you got it
