• Right so basically i’m new to the world of blogging and wordpress itself.

I recently purchased a domain and hosting for it, through GoDaddy, knowing that they had a quick install for wordpress.

After installing wordpress through GoDaddy, nothing seemed to happen?
Now I have no idea what’s wrong with it, nor would I have a clue where to look to see if things were right.

Is it down to needing to purchase more pages for my domain to allow wordpress to work?

I have contacted GoDaddy support see if they can sort me out with some help, but i thought i’d try here aswell, try get it resolved quickly.

If anyone could help i’d appreciate it dearly as I just want to get blogging.

    Kind Regards

  • Oliver,

You don’t need to buy anything else from Godaddy, you already have what you need. What’s your site address?

Here’s a wealth of info t get you started: https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Getting_Started_with_WordPress

You probably just have to go to the admin page for your site. That link should have arrived in your inbox from GoDaddy.

What do you mean when you stated you contacted GoDaddy? Did you send an email? I suggest you give them a call and their CSR should be able to walk you through your next steps. After all, you’re paying them for that service.

    Thanks to both of you.

    My site address is olivercash.co.uk

Its run through GoDaddy’s ‘instantpage’ which is awful, so if either of you could advise me on anyway to modify my website without using drag/drop facilities that godaddy provide, as currently it looks unprofessional to say the least.

“What do you mean when you stated you contacted GoDaddy?” – Yes, I emailed there support service, I’m going to wait to here from them via email before I call them.

I had this emailed to me from GoDaddy after I installed WordPress-

“WordPress 3.2.1 has been successfully installed on your hosting account. To launch this application, click on the URL below or copy and paste it into your browser window:

    https://olivercash.co.uk/blog/”

After clicking the link, nothing happened?

Kind Regards, and big thanks for your help so far.

    Oliver,

I see that you’re in UK so calling them is probably not the best option. I see on the provided url, you have a option of login in to your instant page (awful indeed), does that get you anywhere? I also can’t find any installation on either your domain or the sub-directory “blog”. Godaddy also has a live chat as well.

I keep going in and out of here but if you need to chat, you can click on my name and chat with me there and I can look into your account.

    Cheers,

    Chris

They usually provide an admin link as well, something along the lines of https://yoursite.com/wp-login.php.

You should also check out GoDaddy’s getting started with WP.

I still suggest you call so you can have your questions answered directly (and quickly).

    Thanks again for your responses.

“They usually provide an admin link as well, something along the lines of https://yoursite.com/wp-login.php.”
-I received nothing like this, initially I thought it was something to do with my hosting so I switched to a different hosting, which turns out it wasn’t.

“I see on the provided url, you have a option of login in to your instant page (awful indeed), does that get you anywhere?”
-Awful indeed, it needs changing badly, yeah it allows me to log in and modify it, when i say modify it, it allows me to do pretty much nothing, hopeless. I don’t know how to modify and make the website my own without using godaddy programs?

    Kind Regards

Problem solved- GoDaddy have informed me of the reasoning.

Instantpage Can not be active while trying to use wordpress.

Thanks for your responses anyway, much appreciated.
