• OK,

So I’ve been running a ruck of websites on two Godaddy shared hosting plans for a number of years & I’ve now ran out of databases & thought that it might be a good idea to invest in one of their virtual dedicated servers.

So I’ve downloaded a demo of Win Server 08 & installed the Web Edition on a test pc. I’ve got IIS up & running & can view a customized html page from a networked machine. Happy days. I now want to get a WordPress Site up & running.

I can do the F5min install & have hacked around changing things so am familiar with that side of the config. What I do need some help with is the other bits.

I’ve presumed that I need MySQL & so I’ve downloaded the MySQL Installer from mysql.com/downloads.

I’ve installed it & ran the Workbench tool. Presumably I’m sniffing in the right direction here? I’ve not had too much of a tinker with it yet, but it sort of looked as if it would do the right thing.

Secondly – PHP. Do I need to do anything with regards to PHP? Do I need to enable anything in IIS, or do I need to download & install anything?

Finally, any further tips? I administer a few servers so know a bit more than the basics, but I’m learning on the WebDev side.

Thanks in advance for the words of wisdom!
