• Hi there,

I’m a little nervous updating this plugin since there has been a major overhaul of the plugin. I have a few websites that are still operating with 1.9 versions. If I update, will I have to redo the galleries or any coding?

I had updated NextGen for one site a few months ago and it was a lot of work to redo, just wondering if the plugin fixed those bugs and the transition is smooth?

@gotmedia – If you have any concerns with updating any plugin it is almost always best to create a mirrored test site to do the update with first to see if you will run into any conflicts or additional work.

If you experienced issues in the past then you may already be aware of what needs to be done on the sites that have not been updated yet.

    Hi Cais,

That doesn’t exactly answer my question.

I experienced issues in the past because of the bugs of the new version. I’m asking you, going from a version of 1.9 to the latest, would there be any recoding involved?

@gotmedia – To be honest … I have no idea. I don’t know what plugins you are using, nor do I know what theme you are using, nor any idea of what customizations you may have made to any of those items. Without specific information and finite details of your server environment and the web site I cannot reasonably offer anything more than standard practice generalities.

The answer I gave you is just standard practice if you have any concerns with any plugins … I would say the same thing of any of my plugins if you had concerns with one of those in the past as well.

Let’s say I had the old code up using a generic theme (nothing special) and no plugins. Will the old code work with the new updates?

@gotmedia – With “old code” are you referring to shortcode structures? If that is the case, to the best of our knowledge (with the exception of one or two edge-case scenarios) all of the NextGEN Legacy shortcode structures have been translated into the current NextGEN Gallery releases and all have tested to work correctly.

Yes, I am referring to the shortcode structures. The one site I updated to the latest version of NextGen, the shortcodes didn’t work and so I had to redo the coding for all those pages. So I was hoping to see that that “bug” was fixed.
