Good, but…

  • Installed the plugin and it works just fine. I was pleased with the functionality.

    Then after a few weeks, I started to notice that getting to the Dashboard was taking longer and longer. It got to the point where I had to wait 90+seconds before the dashboard would launch.
    The main site itself was fast and there was no problem there. I decided that the problem must lie with one of my plugins so I started to disabled them one at a time. When I disabled SlimStat, the dashboard loaded up in a fraction of a second. I enabled it, dashboard slow to load.

    I have not tried the latest version 2.9 that was released today, but I do not see anything in the changelog that would relate to anything I experienced so I am staying clear for the time being.

    Well you can’t blame the plugin if your server is not tuned for handling heavy loads ?? You may want to try to disable some of the Analytics on your dashboard to improve performance.

    Anyway, I think you are recalculating too much on the fly and perhaps aggregation of historical data might help performance on those of us with “cheap” server solutions.

    If people want REAL TIME ANALYTICS, relying on cached results won’t work ?? Anyway, if you are on a cheap server, maybe you should switch to google analytics. It’s like you are blaming Toyota because you want to buy their biggest SUV, but your garage is way too small for that. You’ll have to buy a Yaris or a Smart ?? Capisce?

    Anyway, was not trying to pick a fight, just thought it worth mentioning the issue I had which I know for a fact is quite common. Not common with your plugin but common in the world of WordPress with some plugins. Crazy number of people complaining about their Dashboard loading really slow.

    Now, I have 7 instances of WP, 1 Drupal and 1 Django on the same “badly tuned” “cheap” server, everything is running hunky dory until I had this one issue. But, you are probably right on google analytics.
