Hi @kelltech,
Thank you for sharing your feedback on the plugin. We appreciate it.
In regards to the issue with spam that you’re receiving, I apologize for it and would like to share more alternate options and some details about it.
We’ve recently been seeing an increase in reports from users who use reCAPTCHA and how they’re receiving more SPAM. This unfortunately is an issue with Google and it’s possible there was a recent vulnerability exploited to allow bots to bypass this.
We’ve also noticed that most of the reports are from users who have the Invisible reCaptcha setup. In case this is what you are using at the moment, you might want to consider switching to the Checkbox reCaptcha if you would like to use Google services. We have a comprehensive guide on how to get that set up here.
However, if you would not like to use Google services, you can use some other alternatives as mentioned below (includes Captcha as well):
1. We have a built-in anti-spam protection feature in the form builder. This does not require any additional setup and should be enabled by default in the form builder > Settings > General. When enabled in the form, it works in the background to protect your forms against spam. For more details about the anti-spam protection feature, please see our tutorial here.
2. Block or allow specific email addresses: Using our Allowlist/Denylist feature, you can restrict or allow specific email addresses that can be used to submit your forms. We have a detailed tutorial for setting this up.
And if you’d like to, you can consider the following third-party plugins to protect your forms against spam:
– WordPress Zero Spam: This plugin is simple to set up and works right out of the box.
– Spam protection, AntiSpam, FireWall by CleanTalk: This option requires registration and offers more settings for customization. Please see their site page for more details.
And if you’d like more help with using WPForms, please feel free to post in our WPForms Support forum.
Thanks!
