• I’ve only been using this for a short time. I considered Sucuri’s WAF (a great service), which I use for a more significant site, but the cost and setup was a bit too steep for this project. So, I thought I’d give Wordfence a try. My first impression is a good one. The interface is nice and there’s minimal configuration that needs to be done, though you can really have at it if you want.

I was able to eliminate two other plugins since Wordfence does what they were doing. Reducing plugins is always nice. It’s great to have brute force, 2FA and WAF all in one place. I’m giving Premium a shot to get more immediate protection for new threats, but I’d be comfortable with the free version on a non-critical site that’s regularly backed up and kept up to date.

There’s a lot of value in both free and Premium.

PS. To be notified of plugins that haven’t been updated for a long time was a nice surprise. That’s one of those threats you might not consider and probably wouldn’t spend time to identify on your own on any regular basis.
