Good for simple applications, but lacking a few feature that would make it great
-
I’m using this plugin for a site that needed a simple banner with links. It works well enough for that one application, however, it is missing a few features that would make it way more useful and more user friendly for our technically challenged friends.
It does not integrate with the Media Library.
Lacks a page browser for linking pages – you have to find your page and copy and paste the URL. This kind of thing is simple for someone like me, but not necessarily for the end users of the site.
The slideshow button in the editor requires that you manually enter the id number of the gallery, which requires navigating to the Slideshow menu to find it – by that time you might as well copy the shortcode from the same place and paste it in. Would be nice if instead it showed a dropdown of gallery names to choose from.
The default settings for the slideshow: image width & height, thumbnails on or off , … apply to all slideshow/galleries. It would be nice to be able to override these defaults with shortcodes, or even better (more user friendly for my noobs who are intimidated by shortcode syntax) to provide an interface for different settings for different galleries.
The interface could be a little more intuitive – when you click a gallery to edit it you don’t see the associated slides as most people would expect – those are all listed together under Manage Slides. I suppose this is the payoff for the very nice feature of being able to associate slides with different galleries, so perhaps this is the best way to handle it, but still a little counterintuitive at first glance.
