• I’ve had it with my hosting provider. When things are good they are good, when they turn bad it gets worse.
My WP blogsite has been down for over 12 hours and inspite of 24/7 service and “urgent”/”critical” tickets, my hosting provider is yet to respond back to me. (I’ll post the website problem in the troubleshooting section)

For now… are there any recommendations for good hosting providers who
    1. Provide 24/7 service
    2. Take charge technically to troubleshoot issues, import my WP blogs and data etc… without pushing it on to a non-techie person like me.

The few that WP recommends – I spoke to them and asked them this question : “What is your basic response time to solve issues/problems from the time a problem/issue is submitted”

The two I called answered “24 to 48 hours”. If a website is down or inaccesible… and especially if it’s a bloggers source of healthy income – it just doesn’t seem right to have help coming to you after 24 – 48 hours.

Any pointers on hosting providers providing good & prompt customer service will be highly recommended.

  • I found my webhost using a forum called https://www.webhostingtalk.com/, and I think their reviews are pretty honest.

I recommend hostgator (hostgator.com). I’ve been reselling for them for years, and have had very few problems and pretty good tech support. They have 24/7 support available, but not sure what the average response time is for a support request. I have never had a site down for more than a couple of hours in the past 4 years, and not more than a few minutes in the past 2 years. They are usually good about helping with troubleshooting and other technical issues.

I also resell for dreamhost. Do not go there! The have been having many many problems with downtime, bad hardware, no email service, and other things over the past 6 months. Presently, they are making all members that have email forwards to aol remove them because aol won’t deliver any dreamhost mail at all until every single forward is removed.

I’ve had Lunarpages for a few years and am tickled pink. I’m also a reseller. The customer support has always been helpful and courteous and have always helped me with whatever I need in a very timely manner. They also have a community forum where you can interact with employees and other customers alike to share ideas, ask questions, etc.
