• facebook tracker are a no go. For European users is this a problem, the plugin is not DSGVO conform and a warning from the lawyer is expensive ??

    Good job ??

Maybe it was a misunderstanding, whatever, now it is perfect. A fast and beautiful lightbox.

Thanks for the support and “removing” the tracker message!

  • Hi @jovi0815,

Thank you for reaching out and for your feedback.
Please allow me to take a moment to address this: the plugin does not install any Facebook trackers – we certainly did not code it to do so.
Is it possible to give me a bit more information about this FB tracker you mention? Can you please send me the file/code where you saw this?

In doing so it helps us determine whether the reported issue from this plugin or whether it is related to another component of your site. It helps us narrow down the issue if it’s from our end, and we will fix it asap.

I hope you reply so we can shed a bit more light on the issue and help sort things out.
    Thank you!

    Warmly,
    Mihaela

    Hi Mihaela,

with the plugin installed and enabled, several browsers (Edge, Chrome, etc.) notify me that a Facebook tracker has been blocked. If I deactivate EverLightBox, this message no longer appears.

A text search for “facebook” in the plugin folder results in 245 hits in 137 files !

I will not search for a tracker in all these files. But the fact is, the Facebook tracker warning apperars when the plugin is activated. I have check this on three websites.

Why do you need the file/code? Do you don’t know your own plugin code???

My quick solution is: replace “facebook” in ALL files with another word (e.g. “shitbookfucktracker”, then the warning message disappears. Ok, please don’t do that with social buttons enabled, it doesn’t come good when “shitbookfucktracker” appears on the webpage ??

also warmly, but a little bit frosty because of the tracker ??

Thank you so much for explaining – I highly appreciate it!
I went ahead and opened a ticket regarding this so our dev team can investigate further and see how to fix it/remove it.
    We apologize for the trouble!

    Warmly,
    Mihaela

    Dear @jovi0815,

We investigated this thoroughly and identified the issue reported. However, I believe this is a misunderstanding regarding it so please allow me to explain. The plugin has certain settings that when turned on it enables Facebook comments and likes. Here you can see the ticket and screenshots with those settings to better understand: https://github.com/WPChill/EverlightBox/issues/20

When those settings are enabled, the plugin uses a Facebook SDK for those Facebook comments and likes. The plugin does not track anything nor do we through it.
If you do not want Facebook comments or likes, you can disable those settings, however, for users that do want them, that Facebook SDK is necessary in order to allow Facebook comments and likes.
You can read more about that SDK here: https://www.avandor.com/gdpr/database/?app=facebook-comments

We apologize for the misunderstanding and wanted to clear things out and assure users that we do not track anything or anyone.

As I mentioned before, you can use the plugin without that Facebook SDK – you just have to disable these settings:
    Enable Facebook comments
    Show Facebook comment count
    Enable Facebook like button

Or check this option: Don’t include Facebook scripts

    Thank you for understanding.

    Respectfully,
    Mihaela
