Good Resource but Not Perfect
-
This plugin has gotten better over time but it still has the occasional issue that detracts from it’s user experience. I prefer to use this with client websites as the more user friendly I can make it the better. However sometimes enabling certain features causes failures it shouldn’t which causes unnecessary panic. Most recently the option ‘Defer Render-blocking JavaScript’ was enabled, and this deferred the jQuery file to the bottom causing all jQuery associated functions to cease working and half their website didn’t load properly. It shouldn’t have to be manually added to the excluded list as this file should never be deferred, and certainly not below other files or functions on the page that list it as a dependency. There were several JS errors after enabling as it seems the listed dependencies no longer played a role. Perhaps this should not be a ‘Recommended’ feature as my clients tend to enable everything that is listed as ‘Recommended’.
