In 2024 plugin which is not responsive by default is nonsense. It is a silly trap. Must be written in red above all, that sorry, if you dont pay, you are back into 90s. I am afraid this goes against what is WordPress community is about.

    Hi @maximsurin,

Thanks for taking the time to provide feedback here, I really appreciate it!

Making tables responsive can be very tricky, and I’ll be happy to provide some clarification: TablePress (the free version) does in fact provide responsiveness! It offers Horizontal Scrolling for tables that don’t fit on the screen, and this can simply be activated on the table’s “Edit” screen.

The TablePress premium versions do indeed offer several additional ways to make tables work better on small screens: There are options for Stack, Collapse, Flip, and a (new) Modal mode. For examples for these, please see?https://tablepress.org/modules/responsive-tables/

If you have any questions regarding this, please don’t hesitate to ask! I’ll be happy to help!

    Best wishes,
    Tobias

Thumbs up. There were a free extension with responsiveness funcion that now became a part of premium. Stop doing previously free functions paid. What next, another one feature will become paid? HTML support will become paid? That’s awful, it’s disrespect for all old users who used that free function for years.

    Hi @arskrigitsioniets,

Thanks for your feedback, I will of course be happy to provide clarification here!

The “TablePress Extension: Responsive Tables” that you mention was never a direct part of TablePress! It has always been a separate plugin that was never available here in the WordPress Plugin Directory.

It was indeed retired (so that it would not be updated anymore) more than 1.5 years ago. Since then, it has been working flawlessly, and I promise that I will never make code changes to break this feature on purpose! This is still true! With the upcoming TablePress 3 (likely in November) however, changes in a dependency library that TablePress uses are required. This is necessary to have a modern code basis that works in all browsers and it also greatly improves things like accessibility. You can read more about this on this explanation page. Unfortunately, one unavoidable drawback of this necessary change is that some features of that “TablePress Extension: Responsive Tables” will no longer work — but not all of them.

Again: I’m not removing any free features to make them paid here! The feature in question first of all was never part of the free version of TablePress, and the upcoming change is necessary to keep TablePress modern and working. Please also don’t forget that you are still benefitting from a very feature-rich plugin — entirely for free. Thanks for your understanding!

    Best wishes,
    Tobias
