Did a really good job displaying my feed. But after every update it’s broken.
I received good support from Smash Balloon. And after an update it was ready to go again. Did have an issue with an adblocker. So if it doesn’t show on your page, check it.-

Sorry to hear you’ve had some issues with the plugin. We’d really like to figure out what the problem is you’re running into as we pride ourselves on making sure the plugin is as reliable and issue-free as possible. Would you be able to provide some more information to us about what is happening to the feed after you update?
For example, is there an error message, or is the feed not displaying at all? There is backup caching built into the feed and so it should hopefully be displaying a cached version of your feed at least. If you’re able to provide some more info either in a support ticket on the forum here, or using the support form on our website, then we can help get this resolved for you ASAP.

Hi John,
After the update it shows huge instagram logo’s and very small the feed in between them. So it does get the feed, but doesn’t display it as it should. Hope this helps.
BTW, I can’t re-authorize as the Instagram login doesn’t work anymore from within the plugin…

Thanks for providing more info, we appreciate it! This is a strange issue that we haven’t had reported before but it sounds like it could be related to your site potentially caching the previous versions CSS file. To help diagnose this further could you tell me whether the issue resolves either after some time or after taking some specific action (eg, saving the settings in the plugin)? Or does the issue just continue to persist indefinitely?
Regarding reauthorizing your Instagram account, this is difficult to diagnose without more info as it could be a number of things. Are you using the latest version of the plugin (v2.4.4)? Instagram deprecated their old API yesterday but our plugin has supported the new API for a long time now and so wanted to check you weren’t using an older version.
If that’s not the problem, then if you can provide some further info on what you see when trying to connect an account (eg, is there an error, does nothing happen when clicking the button, etc) or perhaps even provide a screenshot then it will make it easier for us to troubleshoot the problem.

Hi John,
The plugin is the latest version. When I try to add an Instagram account I get the following return code: {“error_type”: “OAuthException”, “code”: 400, “error_message”: “Invalid scope field(s): basic”}
When I had it connected I have emptied the server cache and my browser cash, but it didn’t change anything. Still big logo’s.

Hi @annejanz,
That error should only be occurring in older versions of the plugin as it’s related to the old Instagram API being deprecated. Could you try clicking the “Button not working?” link next to the “Connect an Instagram Account” button and then manually connecting your account instead?
Regarding the logo size, would it be possible to provide a link to the page where you’re displaying the feed so we can see the issue first hand?

Hi John,
I took it of my website as it was ruining my layout.
I can get a token but can’t get it to work within the plugin interface.
The config.php doesn’t have a access token field. Or do I have to put it elsewhere?

Could you try using the tool again and then, once you receive your Access Token and User ID, please click the “Manually Connect an Account” button on the plugin’s settings page and copy/paste them into there.
Regarding the layout issue, could you try adding the following to the plugin’s “Custom CSS” section, which can be found at: Instagram Feed > Customize > Custom CSS:
#sb_instagram svg{ max-width: 24px !important; }
If that doesn’t fix the problem, then would you be able to provide a screenshot of the issue (you can use snipboard) so that I can see what you’re seeing?

Hi John,
I can’t connect with Instagram. When I fill in the fields and click connect it says saving but empties the fields too.
I have installed an alternative now until the problem is resolved.

Sorry to hear that. We’re limited in the support we can provide here in the reviews section, but if you can submit a ticket on our website with your “System Info” from the plugin then we can provide much more comprehensive help. We can’t have you post that info here unfortunately as it shouldn’t be shared in a public forum.
From the issues you’re describing it sounds like the plugin version you’re using could be out of date, or your site could be caching older plugin files, but it’s difficult to tell without having more information.

@annejanz – I was talking to another of our developers about this today and it sounds like the issue is almost certainly that you have a JavaScript error in your admin which is preventing these functions from working as expected.
Could you go to the plugin settings page and then either press F12 on your keyboard, or right click and select “Inspect element” and then select the “Console” tab. That will then show any errors on the page. There’s also more info on how to do this here: https://www.ads-software.com/support/article/using-your-browser-to-diagnose-javascript-errors/
Could you try that and let me know if there are any errors present? If so, then removing them will fix the problem.

Hi John,
The only error I get on the page is this one:
DevTools failed to load SourceMap: Could not load content for chrome-extension://hnmpcagpplmpfojmgmnngilcnanddlhb/browser-polyfill.min.js.map: HTTP error: status code 404, net::ERR_UNKNOWN_URL_SCHEME
I don’t think this has something to do with the plugin…
