Good when it works, but can fail silently

I’ve finally got my backups working on Dreamhost after following the suggestion to disable FASTCGI. I like the automatic backups, but I think more needs to be done to guard against the case where backups are failing. I think the plugin should detect this and suggest courses of action to the admin somehow.
