• I am trying to help my Dad learn WP remotely. I host his site, and I’ve made him some desktop videos to show him to upload pictures, add meta information in the media library, insert pictures into a post etc. He finds it all a bit daunting and asks if there is a good beginners book, something that is not web based so he hold it and read along side the videos.

I taught myself WP through trial and error and the web so I don’t know what to recommend. Has anyone attempted teaching WP to an older, not completely happy with technology person?

These are WordPress’ recommended books: https://www.ads-software.com/about/books/ .

Good for you for helping your dad along this path :)! I’ve heard this is quite good:

I’d also suggest looking at reviews on Amazon for other possibilities. One other thing to keep in mind is that books get outdated quite quickly – as WP evolves – so that can be frustrating/puzzling when the book doesn’t seem to “match” what’s visible in the current version of WP.

Thanks for the suggestions. I’ve reviewed the dummies book. It was published in 2011. I hadn’t thought of the problem of WP evolving and books being static, but I can see that would probably frustrate my Dad. I’ll look on Amazon for a more recent dummy style book with good reviews as suggested. Thanks again.
