    Hi all,
I am having some problems with the plugin- this appears to have started a few weeks back and possibly relates to an auth issue, which is now fixed.
The plugin kept backing up which is good, but as it couldn’t upload to Drive it seems to have simply filled up my web space.
Now things appear to be out of sync, for instance when I ask for ‘rescan remote storage’ I get 9 backups, but there are only 2 or 3 backups on Drive. I did delete a couple from google drive web interface in hopes of getting this to reset, but that didn’t work.

It also won’t delete these backups from the plugin interface, but I believe that this also shows backups for other WordPress installs, and I cannot identify by URL as you have suggested in another ticket as the URL doesn’t appear- perhaps I haven’t gone far enough in the deletion process.
So as far as I can tell I have multiple issues- what should I do first please?

Sorry that should read ‘Google Drive’ and ‘deletion process’ should read ‘restore process’

    Hi,

The issue would have resulted from the authentication issue.
If UpdraftPlus is unable to upload backups to remote storage, they default to being stored on the server.

The ‘Rescan Remote Storage’ tool does not delete backup entries from the backup list.
I would recommend first downloading any backup files from your web-space (wp-content/updraft), if you have not already deleted them.
Then, delete all backups in the Existing Backups tab (using CTRL+Click to select multiple entries). In the confirmation pop-up, DO NOT select ‘delete from remote storage’. This will delete the backup entries, but not the files themselves.
    Finally, click ‘Rescan Remote Storage’.

If this picks up backups from other sites, and the URL of the site is not visible, a raw list of the backups can be found in the Advanced Tools tab (bottom of the Site information section). This will show you the filename for each backup set, which contains the date and site name.

Thanks so much for the in depth instructions. I was able to clear out all the old backups after copying to a local drive. I couldn’t select multiples but I guess that’s a Mac vs PC issue.
‘Rescan Remote Storage’ gave me no backups, so I started a new backup that went ok until the upload stage, here is the error message-

0042.541 (0) Beginning dispatch of backup to remote (googledrive)
0042.541 (0) Google Drive: requesting access token: client_id=XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX.apps.googleusercontent.com
0042.875 (0) Google Drive: successfully obtained access token
0042.882 (0) Exception (Google_IO_Exception) occurred during files backup: The stream IO handler requires the allow_url_fopen runtime configuration to be enabled (Code: 0, line 51 in /home/XXXXX/public_html/wp-content/plugins/updraftplus/includes/Google/IO/Stream.php)
0042.883 (0) An error condition has occurred for the first time during this job

Looks like I am nearly there, any further assistance would be much appreciated.

    Hi,

    Apologies for the delay.

It appears that a PHP directive needed to upload to Google Drive is disabled.

Please could you ask your hosts to enable the ‘allow_url_fopen’ directive in php.ini?

Thanks again for your assistance. That did the trick- it was fairly simple to edit php.ini although ‘allow_url_fopen’ was off and should have been on by default, so not quite sure what went wrong there.

Really appreciate the support on the free version of the software, so much so that I will investigate paying for it!

    Thanks again

    Adam
