• I’m thinking of using Google’s AdSense and incorporating it within my site. Any pointers or recommendations for the best way to go about doing this within Word Press 1.5?

  • There’s a site called Blogmine.com I just signed up for that released a plug-in for text ads that fall below the posts. Pretty neat. I’m trying it out to see what happens.

I have the plugin for the Google Adsense, but I’m finding that you can only use the code in a single post. Meaning, if you try to add it to two seperate posts, an ad will only show up in one. I’m not an expert by any means at this, and maybe I’m wrong, but that’s what happens for me.

Oh…it’s at https://www.netmix.com/wordpress if you want to take a look. Sorry.

Blogmine looks interesting but I cannot see anywhere on their web site exactly where it tells you how much revenue you earn per click. Any ideas?

Also, am I right in assuming that https://www.blogmine.com and https://www.chitika.com are indeed the same company – both not giving indications of revenue you earn per click.

Has anyone been using either of these systems for a while that can provide feedback?

I’m new to WordPress. So far it’s great – very easy to use. I’d like to put google adsense into my blog. The second post mentions to plug in the google code anywhere you want. What file in do you put the code into? Do you put it into index.php? Or some other file in that same directory?

    Thanks.

I have reported his vile deeds to Lord Skippy. Justice shall be handed out swiftly, and thusly so. Merry a day to you, good sir.

I use adsense. I earn about 5 bucks a day. LMAO. It pays for my hosting. Im using that plugin. It works good, and doesn’t go against the adsense Rules. I think there is a limit to ads that can appear per page. 3 is it? I just add the <!–adsense–> tag every couple posts.

eabrownbigpondcom: I have removed the links you’ve supplied to your Google SiteMaps.

It’s acceptable to provide a link to one of your sites on your account profile, which will then be linked to from your username in the right side of each post. Posting lists of links to other sites that are not germane to a specific support question is considered bad form. The purpose of these forums is to provide support to people who need it, not to artificially create in-bound links to your sites in order to bolster such ephemeral things as PageRank.

You’ll find the templates in the /themes/default subdirectory. And adding a 160×600 Adsense ad to the sidebar works well. Just locate the code for the stuff you actually see on the page. (The clues are the Category titles, e.g. Pages, Archives, Categories, Links/Blogs(?) and Meta.) Slip your adsense code in there after you’ve FTPed a backup to your C: drive!! ??

You can see my code on this page here: https://www.beefly.info/blog/?page_id=5

I do have a problem dropping Adsense ads into the actual articles, though. Because as I add more articles, I am forced to edit the earlier ones to take the Adsense ads out again. I don’t want to exceed the limit of THREE adsense ads on one page.

How do other Bloggers get around this problem? Especially since Archives and some other views do not even show the sidebar.

    Cheers,

    Davo

gedanate, how did u do that? do i have to edit the file sidebar.php?

    Davo –

You don’t have to delete. google should ignore requests after the first three, so you don’t have to manage it.

however, I find sometimes you are better off custom-managing the appearance of ads on homepage/archives with custom code (or something like CG-Inbetween, etc.), so that you show with some offset between ads, have more control. With really custom code you can replace google with other ads if desired when more than 3 shown, etc.

    Super –

Yes, if you edit your sidebar.php, you can paste in an adsense tower ad (or other 120 width or so ad) pretty easily. You might need to ‘wrapper’ around it with ‘li’s or something, depending on your template/theme.

Integrating Adsense into a site and making it look/feel good can be an artform. I’m just only starting to get it better on CHAITGEAR myself, but the results have been great as I continue to tune the site, content, and ad layout.

thanx, i have now successfully edited my sidebar.php file and have google ads on all my pages.

I can’t for the life of me get adsense to show up on my site. I tried both sidebard and in between posts. I read the posts here and tried what others have but nothing works. As you might have guessed, I’m very new to blogging. Can someone please tell me how I get adsense on my site, preferably in my sidebar? Is there a reason why it doesn’t show up on my blog? I wondered if something is blocking it because I don’t see adsense on anyone else’s blogs either. I’m totally confused. Here is my site.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. ??
