    The title says it all: the full line of pageTracker code is visible in the footer on all pages of my site, but the code itself has disappeared (and therefore cannot be removed) from my header.php file. Help, please.

  • Is the code in the footer.php file?

    Hi Julian,

    Thanks for your interest in my problem. The issue is that it is NOT in the footer.php file, or the head.php or any other .php file. I have searched high and low, but as you can see from the footer on the site at https://www.lockandloud.com,

    var
    pageTracker = _gat._getTracker(‘UA-XXXXXXX-1’); pageTracker._trackPageview();

    sits there, and I can find no where in my .php files to delete it.

    cheers,
    Geoff

    Was the analytics installed through the “Vibe SEO” plugin you appear to have installed? Its showing up in the front end because it is missing the <script> tags (so its outputting as html). I would check the SEO plugin settings to see if there are missing script tags.

    Otherwise, I would deactivate the plugin to see if that is causing the issue (or any other Google analytics plugins you may have installed).

    Hey there SpaceDog… thanks for the feedback. The analytics install pre-dates the SEO plugin by some time, but I’ll check that out regardless.

    And I’ve already attempted to deactivate and even uninstalled the Google Analytics plugin with no luck in banishing the meddlesome code. Any ideas where it might be residing?

    I have no other Google Analytics plugins, just a Google XML Sitemap builder…

    Generally, plugins insert javascript in the footer. If its not hardcoded in the footer.php, chances are its a plugin.

    Thanks, I’ll dig in and run through them individually.

    Another long shot possibility would be to query the DB to see if that code is inserted in a table somewhere.

    Hey SpaceDog… many thanks!

    You were right about that SEO plugin, it worked a treat.

    cheers,
