I am using Google Site Kit 1.0.2 on the latest version of WordPress (5.3).

I got to Settings -> Analytics and click on edit, which pulls in my GA account settings.

I click on “Insert Snippet” and Confirm Changes and it now says “Snippet is inserted”

I go back to the dashboard and then back to Settings -> Analytics

It now says it is NOT inserted. I cannot get it to save and stay, so it does not work.

When viewing source I can see GTM was inserted by Site Kit but no GA code.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

@rodneyjoyce thanks for raising the topic! When I look at your site, I notice a 500 error/ WordPress error being flagged in the browser: https://jmp.sh/nXy1sVO

I’m not sure if this is related, but it’s a first step to make sure the site is up fully and can be updated by the plugin. Currently I’m not seeing any code inserted by Site Kit.

Hi @reneesoffice – it appears my site was done for some reason – could you try again now please (I don’t think it is related)?

@rodneyjoyce Did you manage to get your issue resolved? I can see you have Tag Manager implemented on your site via Site Kit, which is dependent on Analytics.

No, the plugin still does not work, unfortunately.

@rodneyjoyce When you say the plugin does not work does it display the Analytics and Tag Manager modules as connected? Looking at at the source code of your site I can see Tag Manager added, with a reference to Site Kit. If possible please reset Site Kit and start the setup process again from a browser incognito window.

Hi James, can you elaborate on how it should work:

If I have SiteKite inserting Google Tag Manager – do I need to put GA inside Tag Manager as a tag OR do I just connect GA via Sitekit and it will insert the GA tracker?

Currently, I have it as a Tag in Google Tag Manager.

@rodneyjoyce You don’t need to add any Analytics container from within Tag Manager, you can allow the plugin to implement Analytics first and then add Google Tag Manager.

To do so please disconnect both the Tag Manager and Analytics module on your site and then check the source code to ensure there is no other trace of Tag Manager added via a theme, plugin or manual input. You can then add the Analytics module once again before adding Tag Manager, both via Site Kit.
