You can use custom link/page template with [download_url] which gives your option to add attributes to the <a> tag. Pro version has a template editor. Using it you can create custom templates quickly. It is possible to create a custom template in the free version too. But in this case, you have to use template files. Keep your template files in /active-theme/download-manager/link-templates/ directory to create custom link templates.
