Hi I am having the same problem. The UA-196106358-1 is showing above the header on my client’s website. https://companymediation.uk

I had G site kit and also Moster Insights plugins but I removed both of them because I thought it might have been a conflict or duplicate google verification coe. But the tag is still showing there.

Can anyone please help me on how I can remove it? I searched header.php and it’s not there.

I have google analytics running fine on https://analytics.google.com and don’t need the plugins but I would like to have both of them or at least one of them so I can show the client everything on wordpress.

How can I delete it? Maybe it will disappear by itself since I deleted the plugins and it’s not on the header.php?

    Could anyone help me please?

    Thank you very much!

  • Hello @montymonteiro ,

Thanks for reaching out to us.

It seems this UA-xxxxx code was added manually as both plugins add the snippet with proper tags.

To troubleshoot this issue can you please apply following steps:

    1. Install and activate the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin.
    2. Navigate to “Plugins > Health Check & Troubleshooting > Troubleshoot”.
    3. From the same screen click on the “Available Plugins” tab at the top right and then click on the “Enable” option next to “Site Kit by Google”
    4. Visit the homepage

You can exit troubleshooting mode afterwards.

In troubleshoot mode enables a default WordPress theme & disable all the plugins. So in this way you can find out the exact plugin or theme with the placement by activating your current theme before checking again. If the Analytics reference still doesn’t existing try enabling plugins while in troubleshooting mode one by one, checking for the snippet each time. Let me know if you need assistance on this.

    Favicon by RealFaviconGenerator – Enable
    Forminator – Enable
Health Check & Troubleshooting – Disable

    Remove Footer Credit – Enable
    Smart Slider 3 – Enable
    WooCommerce – Enable
    Smush – Enable
    WP Terms Popup – Enable
    WPForms Lite – Enable

any idea what I can do to fix?

    Hello @montymonteiro ,

Please disable your theme for a while by activating any WP default Twenty theme & then check the snippet. Let us know if you are still seeing the code snippet at your site.

In case if you don’t find the snippet by activating the default theme then you need to search in the code files specifically in the functions.php file for the previous installed theme.

    Hi Abdullah,
I disabled my theme (Teluro) and activated the twenty twenty theme and the code was still showing. I don’t know what else to do…

Thanks for the update. As its not coming from the Site Kit so I’d recommend you to disable the plugins one by one(along with checking the website for the snippet existing) to find out the exact plugin where its coming from. You may contact your Web Engineer who developed your website.

In case if its time consuming then you can follow above steps for basic troubleshooting. You need to re-check the website every time by enabling plugin in troubleshooting mode to find out the plugin which is the reason for the snippet.
