I waited awhile with update from 3.7.1 on my client’s sites, but after updated to latest version of AIOSEO the GA tracking code is gone and did not carry over?! When I click on Admin Tools > Google Analytics I get only a link to install MonsterInsights???

Does that mean that you have completely stopped supporting GA within your plugin? Because in that case I will be switching to Yoast SEO.

  • If it already had a UA code in there, it should still be there. But yes, they are no longer supporting it for new installs (that didn’t previously have the UA code in the settings). Doesn’t make senses though. See this comment:

The GA UA code did not carry over to the newest version of AIOSEO from version 3.7.1 … and it seems that they don’t care, either. ?? I don’t understand why it’s such a problem to keep the GA code feature for those of us that don’t care for MonsterInsights (the memory hog plugin).

I found “GA Google Analytics” plugin for UA code, but I am considering switching to Yoast SEO anyway, because AIOSEO used to be a simple SEO plugin that simply worked, but with recent changes the setup is strange and many have reported breaking SEO features …

Most SEO plugins don’t actually have an area for UA code. Yoast doesn’t either. This was a big reason we kept using AIOSEO, since it avoided the need for another plugin.

I did find out a simple way to include GA’s UA Global site tag (gtag.js) within the AIOSEO … just add the Tracking Code from GA to the “Other verifications” area below other Webmaster Tools and hit Save.

The code is then used in the Head area and no other plugins or modifications are needed. I am testing this now and seems to work just fine. Anybody else tried this?

Too bad AIOSEO support people did not offer this solution when we asked them what to do with Google Analytics (since they are pushing Monster Insights bloatware).
