  • Greetings smokertovaper!

Looking at the code, it looks like it is a verification code from Google to confirm you are the Webmaster. Have you recently signed up for this service, or anyone else who is a part of your team?

Using Inspect Element on Safari and Firefox, the html shows that it is inserted plainly, so it could be someone added it to the theme somehow.

    Talk to you later,
    Kevin

Hi, No I verified about a month ago, only i have access to the site, if I copy and paste the code into google I get

    https://www.google.co.uk/?gfe_rd=cr&ei=Z2IDVpDyJLTj8wf1-Z2ABg&gws_rd=ssl#q=googlee8d15407e8245514

    ^^ Them results.

It only started yesterday, and the only changes I made were installing super cache and Autoptimize

Hmm…have you tried disabling Autoptimize and seeing if disappears after that? Since it minifies and shrinks HTML, CSS, and Java, maybe its doing something there.

Did you use a plugin (Jetpack, Yoast SEO, etc…) to verify? I’m trying to see if can recreate the issue along with you!

You could do what I do and just use the HTML file verification method instead and leave it out of your blog’s code.

I have tried to disable Autoptimize, I did use a plug in called Verify Ownership, that is disabled with out change, I do use yoast and jetpack

    Hello smoke,

Have you had any luck finding out the issue yet?

If none of the plugins did the trick, I would suggest looking through your themes php files and see if you can find out where that code is coming from! (Appearance > Editor)

I would look at index.php or functions.php to see if you can find that code anywhere.

Of course as always, backing up the website before editing or changing code is recommended!

Hi Kpudlo, I do not know what the issue was but it seems to have resolved itself now, I think it may have had something to do with Google analytics but I am not 100%.

    Thanks.

    Ok great, glad to hear!

    Take care,
    Kevin
