Google Chrome Aw, Snap

  • Hi,

    All of a sudden my site is no longer working in google chrome.
    It appears to load then it suddenly snaps to the The “Aw, snap” Google chrome crash page.
    The site works fine in Safari, Mozilla and IE9.
    I can’t run a validator on it either the error is an absolute mystery.

    Any help would be great. Even where to start looking.

  • I’m having the exact same problem, I think. the page starts to load then aw, snap in chrome.

    It works great in firefox, but in safari, though the page loads, all of the text characters are an “A” with a box around it.

    I’m using super cache and bps security, but I have them configured just as I do on other sites that work fine.

    I turned off all my plugins, got the validation to pass – still does the same thing, starts to open the page then aw, snap. Since that didn’t change anything I turned everything back on and searched for any errors that might actually be causing this and found none. Either way, it’s not working, which is frustrating as I haven’t changed anything.

    Any ideas?

    This usually occurs when you have a corrupt Google Chrome profile. Try backing up your current profile, then delete it from the appdata\Chrome\profiles directory. This will force Chrome to regenerate a new profile for you.

    Make sure you are running the latest version of Chrome as well. Avoid the Dev channel and stick with Stable or Beta.

    It’s weird, I created a new chrome profile, and I’m still getting the aw, snap about 3 out of 5 times that I visit the site, but I have 3 other identical macs sitting here and they all get there in chrome fine. I can’t imagine anything that would block it randomly from my end.

    I also can’t understand why in safari my text is now showing up as an A with a box around each character.

    Update – the safari block a character issue is a new lion problem, I’ll deal with that – but the fact that https://www.stylebeast.com is opening or dying on open randomly for me is concerning. I’m using Chrome 13.0.782.112

    This is very worrying,

    I am going to attempt the following:
    I read a suggestion that it may be the Javascript.
    I am currently going through each javascript link and commenting them out to see which on is the problem, about half way through and no luck.

    I am going to try a different theme to see if its something else.

    I am off to try and eliminate all the errors on my page but I can’t see how these are causing the page to Crash.

    Well its fixed now.

    I redid the theme, copying over most of the code. I used a new gallery hence different javascript.

    Still not sure what the original problem was.

    FYI, My errors are now down to 4. So it could have even been something there.
