Google Cloud Print Shutting Down December 2020
-
Many users have reached out to us about the news around Google Cloud Print shutting down. You can read the full release from Google here:
https://support.google.com/chrome/a/answer/9633006Yes, the Google Cloud Print platform is shutting down December 31, 2020.
We wish it was not being ended, as we love the product, but we don’t make those decisions. Developers were notified at the same time as customers, as a result, we are still evaluating other products and services to replace the GCP product, but at this time we don’t have any plans to share on the future replacement.
We are recommending to customers, if you are interested in onboarding our product now, you can expect an impact to the product later this year, either by a change of Cloud Print service provider or a shutdown of the product. At a minimum the plugin will need to be rebuilt as the core functionality is based upon Google Cloud Print services.
Up until December 2020, the product is stable and successfully providing a Cloud based print solution. Due to the GCP platform shutting down, we will not be releasing any new features, plugin compatibility support or other minor bug improvements.
We will continue to provide support for any critical errors reported, if possible depending on the scope of the fix, the business critical errors will be evaluated and reviewed for support.
A print based cloud solution is important to us and our customers, we are working hard to evaluate the best short and long term solutions to provide this service to you. Once we have confirmed our new solution or plans for the future of the cloud print based functionality, we will provide an official notice to current users and overall plans for the future of cloud print solutions.
