• I don’t know if this is the right place to discuss this, but what the hell.

I run a web design company and I deal almost exclusively with WP builds. A guy I do a lot of work for has recently told me that a reliable source in America passed on information that Google is somehow attacking any website built in wordpress and would be steadily de-ranking them just because of that.

Personally, when I heard this, I thought it was wrong. It makes no sense! I think the possibility is that Google de-rank sites hosted directly from wordpress.com because of spam – that could be the mix up.

Anyway, just wanted your opinions on this and whether you guys have heard anything similar?

    Cheers
    Reno

  • On wordpress.COM – maybe. There’s a lot of old/spam/junk sites there, but that’s just how it’s set up. Just remember, this isn’t wordpress.com so it’s a completely diffrent ball game.

If it’s WordPress installations (the type that you get here) then I don’t believe that your friend is correct. There’s way to many big sites running for Google to jsut de-value all of them jsut for running the same software system. It makes no sense at all.

I have some ocean front real estate in Arizona I’ll give him a great deal on!

Seriously. That’s a strange rumor. If there’s any truth to it, it may have to do with .com in certain very limited aspects according to spam sites and duplicate content. But Google already de-ranks sites like that.

Yeah, that’s what I thought. The guy I do the work for is an SEO specialist, and the guy who told him this information apparently doesn’t say these sorts of things lightly – but every developer I have asked has said it sounds like nonsense. It would imply deranking hundreds of thousands of sites for no reason. Oh well.

Cheers for the input guys ??

WordPress is one of the best website building platform with an efficient code. It actually helps your website by improving its Pagespeed and overall user experience. Any search engine would instead prefer such a website.

Google deranks spam and not quality content , If spam is on wikipedia google will derank it
