Google Doc Embedder Enhanced View not working on site

    Google Doc Embedder is working very well for me in firefox, chrome safari etc in Standard Viewer, however Standard Viewer does not display pdfs in internet explorer. The advice online seems to be to switch to the Enhanced Viewer, the enhanced viewer seems to break the plugin in firefox, chrome etc, it doesn’t display the pdf at all.

    Any advice? It would be a great plugin if I could get it to work everywhere!

    At the moment it’s using standard view & not displaying the pdfs in ie7, any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • The link comes up as forbidden for me. The standard viewer is working well in IE8 & 9 now in most circumstances. I don’t have IE7 to test. The enhanced viewer is not the default setting (anymore) because of this, and because it does introduce a level of complexity where problems can occur. That said, I’m not aware of any problems with the enhanced viewer in IE, so if you can elaborate on that, it may help me diagnose your problem.

    I added in a message for ie7 / 8 users that can’t see the doc, I did test it in ie7 & ie8 on a number of machines and it works for some and not others, I presume it’s because of the cookies issue?

    The plug-in is really nice by the way! I’m happy to use it on the site with the message for those users who haven’t added google to their cookies.

    Seems to be working well in IE9. I no longer have IE7/8 to test. ?? Thanks for your kind comments and I’m glad it’s working (relatively) well for you. Hopefully Google will continue to make improvements to its reliability across browsers.
