Yoast SEO plugin shows the site title at the beginning of the Google search.

    Setting in Yoast SEO plugin:
Search Appearance -> General -> SEO title -> La fotografia | Foto d’autore | Portfolio – Alberti Foto

    Google’s result is:
Alberti Foto: La fotografia | Foto d’autore | Portfolio

    Hi @steve92 ,

We understand you were getting a different Google search result on your site title from what you’ve set in your plugin.

Can you please provide us with the ‘search term’ you were using and a sample URL? There’s a posibility that Google ignored the set title. You can read more about it here.

    The research title is: albertifoto

    Source code:
    <meta property="og:title" content="La fotografia | Foto d'autore | Portfolio - Alberti Foto"/>

    Hi @steve92 ,

    Thanks for the response.

Checking on the website, we can confirm that Yoast SEO is generating the correct title, so the plugin is working correctly.

There are various reasons why Google is doing this. Perhaps Google’s cache of your site is outdated or maybe Google just ignored the metadata you created. If it’s Google’s cache and you have your site set up in Google Search Console, using the URL Inspection Tool can sometimes speed things up and update your site information with Google. Alternatively, allow some more time and reach out to Google in the forums and ask for further assistance.

Unfortunately, Google is still the one who decides what your title shows up in search results as discussed here: https://yoast.com/help/my-seo-title-isnt-displayed-as-i-have-entered-it/#ignored

    Hi,

We double checked again and can confirm Yoast is outputting the right data. See image: https://ibb.co/t256hz5. We know it is upsetting when the titles you created are not appearing correctly.

In this manner, we can only suggest contacting Google for more information as to why they are failing to show them. We say this as Yoast outputting the right data as expected. There is something about Google which is causing them not to find the right title.

You can contact them here https://support.google.com/webmasters/?hl=en#topic=9128571.

NOTE that under some circumstances Google will ignore whatever title you put int. Contacting Google to get more information is the best solution.
