    Hi,

The message is from Google, and means that they don’t reckon that the client ID you entered is valid.

    Best wishes,
    David

I saw this same thing. Make sure you fill out the “Consent Screen” information within the Google APIs area for your project. This would be done either before or after you enabled the Drive API. After I filled out at least a name and URL, then I was able to successfully authorize my application.

So what’s the solution? What are the steps to resolve this issue please?

I got it working by reverting to the old version of the google api developer console (it didn’t work in the new console) and then going to API Access -> Edit Branding Information and filling out the details there. When I tried to alter the information in the “Consent” section of the new console I was receiving permission errors.

same over here (it’s not working since the new google console):

    401. That’s an error.

    Error: invalid_client

    Hi,

Just to point that bstritesky’s “solution” is in fact one of the steps in the setup instructions: https://updraftplus.com/support/configuring-google-drive-api-access-in-updraftplus/

    3. Set up a product name and email address

You will also need to set up something in “APIs & auth -> Consent Screen” at this point.

Specifically, you will need to enter an application name and an email address. You might have already done this in step 1 (Google keep moving things around). If you see errors later about missing an application name or empty email address, then this is the relevant step. These details are shown back to you in step 5 (below) – Google do not use them for anything else.

So, people are only having a problem here if they skipped that step in the instructions. Glad you’re all managing to get it fixed, though!

    Best wishes,
    David
