Hello, I had successfully set up Updraft to backup our site and it was working. However, each backup now fails. When I attempt to rescan remote storage to list backup files, it will not list the backup sets on Google Drive and I get this message “Google Drive: id_from_path: retry (0) (Jan 13 09:54:40)”. I have reauthenticated the Google Drive connection but that did not make a difference, backup still fails.

    Hi,

Could you try to reduce the backup archive split size? This will split the backup into smaller, more manageable files.

To do this, open the ‘expert settings’ section of the UpdraftPlus Settings tab, and find the ‘split backups every’ option. Set this to 25Mb save your settings and run a new process.

If the issue persists, please ask your hosts/server admin to investigate their PHP error logs. These logs should contain more information on the exact issue that is causing the backup process to halt.

    Best Wishes,
    Bryle

Changing the archive split setting made no difference. While I have not heard back from the server admin, I did find these logs on our hosting server. Maybe they will help?

    Hi,

This is likely to be a plugin conflict.

Another plugin that has recently been updated is now using the latest version of the Google SDK and it is loading this newer version of the SDK on every page.

Which means their version of the SDK is being used instead of ours.

(ours is an older version of the SDK that supports PHP 5.2)

The solution would be for the other plugin not to load the SDK on every page.

A few known plugins so far are:

SEOPress Premium (their latest version fixes this)
    SimpleCalendar

If you have another plugin that has Google features try to temporarily disable it and try again, if it works you know which plugin is causing the conflict and you can then ask their support to correct the behaviour.

We are also working on some changes our side to prevent future conflicts and that will be released in the next release.

    Best Wishes,

    Hi Ashley,

Thank you for that information. We’re using Simple Calendar and that is the conflict. However, I am not sure what to ask the Simple Calendar developer to do. Can you clarify how I should request a fix?
    Thank you,

    Hi,

Just explain that they are loading the Google SDK on every page unconditionally which causes conflicts with other plugins that are not on the exact same version of the Google SDK.

For example UpdraftPlus will only load the Google SDK during a backup right before we try to upload a backup.

We should also have an update out later today that will prevent conflicts like this and will resolve the issue your having.

    Best Wishes,

    Ashley

    Hi Ashey,
Thank you, I will submit a request to that developer. UpdraftPlus is a great plugin!
