    Core wordpress does not load Google fonts. This is coming from your theme or a plugin.

    Please attempt to disable all plugins, and use one of the default (Twenty*) themes. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of your troubles.

    All plugins disabled. Only WP default themes installed on the site.

    Still does it.

    Franklin is one of the WP default fonts and I’ve just found this in the twentyseventeen functions.php file:

    $fonts_url = add_query_arg( $query_args, 'https://fonts.googleapis.com/css' );

    So WordPress supplied themes force google fonts….

    I’ve found a plugin to do it:

    https://en-gb.www.ads-software.com/plugins/disable-google-fonts/

    This plugin stops loading of Open Sans and other fonts used by WordPress and bundled themes (Twenty Twelve, Twenty Thirteen, Twenty Fourteen, Twenty Fifteen, Twenty Sixteen, Twenty Seventeen) from Google Fonts.
