Google is indexing secondary language instead of primary, default language

  • Hello,
    I made a few wordpress multilingual websites using Polylang plugin, and Google is primary indexing English homepage instead of Croatian, which is set as default language.

    It doesn’t make sense that Google primarily indexes English while English is set as a secondary language. Anyone with a similar problem?

  • yes, suddenly we are losing the ranking for most important pages in German and it seems Google is only indexing English.

    This is what Search Console is telling us:
    Page is not indexed:?Duplicate, Google chose different canonical than user

    This is pretty bad and we do not know how to fix it ??

    Yeah, I guess I’ll have to switch to another plugin for multilingual sites… any recommendation?
