• Hi, updated to v3 and have sharing buttons set to Icon. I had to play with CSS a little but very nice. My question – it’s a bonus that in icon view Facebook and Twitter volumes are shown. Volumes aren’t feeding through for Google+ though – is this an error or by design? If the latter any plans to add them? If not is it possible to turn volumes off for a consistent look?

Actually re my final question I guess I can set some custom CSS on the element to display:none if I want to – not that I want to, I like them.

Jetpack only supports Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn counts so far, but adding Google+ support is a good idea.

I’m not sure that’s possible yet, since Google+ requires an API key to be able to make such queries. But we’ll look into it! You can follow our progress here:

Hi Jeremy, thank you. I also came across your plugin to allow share buttons to be added by shortcode so have added that also. Really like the format. I came across these 2 articles which may be of interest – I guess they’re using unofficial methods (not sure) – just FYI:

which appears to be derived from:

That’s correct. It seems to be a bit of a hack to get Google+ sharing counts at the moment.

    Hi Jeremy,
ust now find this threat. I assumed the lack of showing number of G+ votes was a bug.
Out of a user experience point of view, that G+ lacking votes seems a bug because the other 3 out of ‘the big 4’ do show them.

Now I read its not implemented yet. In my online marketing community most shares are from G+. So the lack of this feature stopsme from using jetpack. So you have my vote to add it!

And as all average social share plugins can display G+ votes, Iam a bit surprised its not in the jetpack share plugin?

It is indeed possible, but it requires an API key. We’re consequently looking for another solution at the moment. You can follow our progress here:

    Hi, thanks for the update.

When looking at other share buttons that have G+ votes incorporated it is not that hard: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/floating-social-bar/
What I like in your solution that the styling is not that hard.

For now I have to move to https://shareaholic.com/, sorry.

That plugin uses the method I mentioned in the GitHub issue I linked to earlier. We’re looking for other solutions, that do not require the use of a single API key for a plugin used by a lot of sites.

Oh, sorry, iam not that technical.
you mean shareaholic? I think they have it on there server. But you are better in this.
Hope this feature makes it to the next sprint quick. Its a ‘must have’ and critical for our operation. Hopefully more people ask for it because I relay like to be depend on WordPress Jetpack and not on the ‘advertiser network’ shareaholic…
In the meantime, make it more clear in the docs what Jetpack share can and can not… Now it took me hours to find out it is not a bug but a lack of feature.

    Good coding!
