    I’m attempting to add your widget and connect with my client’s Google listing to grab reviews. I’m entering the exact spelling of their company name, but it’s not showing up in the list. Is there some way to input the CID or another way to enter a Google location?

    I should mention this is a verified Google My Business listing. The company shows up in Maps with Google autocomplete.

    I think the developer is using the old Google Places API, not the modern Google Maps API.

    Hey Richhickson,

    I think the issue with your Google API Key, but to see this, please send following information to [email protected]:

    1. Debug information from the setting page of the plugin (WordPress Settings / Google Reviews Widget / Setting);

    2. Link to the place on Google map;

    3. PlaceID which you can find in Google PlaceID Finder here: https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/examples/places-placeid-finder

    Hey Invision-studios,

    I’m sorry, I haven’t heard anything about “modern Google Maps API”, as we know there’s only two types of the Google Places API: server and javascript.

    Actually, Google has a two ways to get map reviews, via server Google Places API and javascript Google Places API. And often, customers get a key for the second type of the API (javascript) which is not suitable for our plugin. In this case, we just tell that you need to get correct server Google Places API key by insturction from the setting page of the plugin (WordPress Settings / Google Reviews Widget / Setting).

    Thanks!

    It appears the GMB listing in question is set as a service area business. I think that’s the issue. It’s not showing up in the PlaceID finder at all, but other similar client businesses are.

    I just checked the “I also serve customers at my business address. (Your address will be hidden from the public if this box isn’t checked.)” box and will give it a day or two to show up in the PlaceID finder, and try again.

    I’m using your plugin on dozens of other sites and always obtain the API code the same way… that’s why I was so baffled. I don’t think it’s your plugin’s fault at all, it’s the local service business aspect hiding the physical address.

    My apologies. This is a great plugin, sorry to confuse Google issues with plugin issues.

    Thank you for inform us!

    Yes, we understand what you are talking about, but this is not always evident with immediately. Unfortunately, the Google doesn’t provides map reviews for the places without a physical address in GMB and it’s a really problem and for our plugin too, because many customers leave negative reviews thinking that the problem is in our plugin.

    I think I can resolve this topic.

    Thanks!
