The current method of adding the google maps api is thru the theme function.php file. But when theme is updated, it gets deleted. So other option is to do it thru the child theme. This works but it is an antiquated method. Why not have a options page like most plugins do to add related API’s. This is a simple clean method and easy. This is a great plugin, but simple things like this can make an excellent user friendly one. Suggest this for next release.
