  • Not sure which page you’re trying to implement the TEC maps, but on the home page I’m seeing that something else is calling the maps script from Google but differently than the way TEC does it, and TEC isn’t even loading on this page.

Mine is down near the bottom of the page with the rest of the footer code:

    <script type='text/javascript' src='https://maps.google.com/maps/api/js?key=MYKEYHERE&ver=4.5.3'></script>

Yours is near your header below your Analytics tag and is different:

    <script async defer src="https://maps.googleapis.com/maps/api/js?key=AIzaSyA0Nna0IpLpB5FMBGDJtl6k4MRweh9XhEw&callback=initMap"
      type="text/javascript"></script>

So my guess is you have a conflict going on if something else is pulling in Maps and firing a callback function that fails etc. Figure out what that is, or remove it from your code if it’s manually inserted for some reason, and try TEC again.

I figured out the conflict in Console.
I do have another error in the console I’m trying to track down but its do with with wpadminbar
I have gone back and reapplied the API and the other suggestions.
It seems like the API is loading and is located down the list in page scripts.
Still no success, check out https://illawarrariders.net/event/michael-mccarthy-annual-snowie-ride/

    See what you think.

Hmm, now I see that you have Maps and TEC loading without errors… I really don’t know what the problem might be. Have you tested switching to another theme and/or turning off all other plugins temporarily just to see if it appears under either of those circumstances?

    Hi!
I also have problem with google map showing on the page.
I’ve registered Google Maps JavaScript API, made domain verification. API key is enabled.

BUT in console a have a error “This API project is not authorized to use this API. Please ensure that this API is activated in the APIs Console:

Can you help me to resolve that problem?

    Sample url with created event:

There are screenshots with my settings:

    https://pix.my/Qr2MTZHu

I can’t read cyrillic, but make sure that’s a “browser” type API key.

Also make sure the maps APIs are actually enabled under Overview.

    Hi

I had this problem as well (sorted the API issues) but still had no map. Finally fixed by removing the “featured Image” from my event! This cleared the “cannot read property ‘top’ of undefined” error which was visible in the web console if a featured image was present. I am using the twenty sixteen theme and can’t see any reason for this conflict.

I’m back on the case for TEC Events not showing Google Maps.

So this is where I get to with this issue.

I went back and setup a new Google Maps API from scratch.

It threw an error connecting with Web Sockets. I researched it and found a discussion and it seems there is an issue with with Jetpack:
    https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/websocket-connection-to-wsspublic-apiwordpresscompinghubwp-failed-403/page/2?replies=38

One of the comments was that if you logged into WordPress.com the errors didn’t appear. I did that and the errors went away. I then logged out of WordPress.com and the errors did not appear again.

However, it didn’t fix the Google Maps not displaying on the event ??

On a side note, I had a number of other site using another map plugin and they changed to using a Google Maps API Infrastructure. Setting that up on several sites was a major pain. In fact I have only managed to get one site going. I went back to using an iFrame from Google and it looks much better, however not the best app. infrastructure.

A casual observance from both these exercises with different plugins is that the Google Maps API infrastructure is very flakey.

It would good for The Events Calendar people to join in on this conversation for some feedback and input.

    Hello
I also have the problem over google map that displays view image.
I disabled all my pluging but still no display.

    Hi Chris,

    Sorry for the delay here.

I took a look at your site and see the Google Map Wrapper id is

    “tribe-events-gmap-Last Updated”

    However, that should be “tribe-events-gmap-0”

So it appears some script on your site is causing that.

I do not see any API errors in the console so that area looks fine.

Have you run through our testing for conflicts guide to see if that can narrow this down:

Let us know what you find out.

    Thanks

    Hi Brian,

I went back through the process again on a cloned test site and identified the plugin causing the issue (yeah!). It is bbp last post https://www.ads-software.com/support/plugin/bbp-last-post.

I went back to the production site turned off the same plugin and bingo, it solved the problem.

I’ve sent a message to Robin Williams to inform him of the find.

Thanks for your research and assistance!

    Chris

Problem already risen to Williams and corrected me. => https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/conflict-with-a-plugin-2?replies=9

But there I was again more google map and even if I disable all my pluging. I just updated but still no map
    Thank you

That so awesome to hear, Chris! Nice work and thanks for following up — I know this has been a beast of an issue and you solved it nicely. ??

    Thanks Geoff,

Robin Wilson released an update to ‘bbp last post’ within a couple of hours of titis 14s post.

I updated ‘bbp last post’ and activated the plugin again.

The maps are still working, yeah team! The site owners are also happy to proceed with the Pro version as well.

    Thanks everybody for your input.

Time to close off this issue!
