  • I believe the maps feature is “unlocked” only in the pro version

Maps should work in The Events Calendar — that’s not a PRO feature at all.

I’m happy to help troubleshoot this with you to see what’s happening.

First of all, please make sure you are using the latest version of our plugins. Once you’ve done that, will you please follow the steps outlined in this article? This will allow us to determine if there is a problem in our plugin or a conflict with the theme or other installed plugins.

Let’s start there and see what we find!

Did all that the article suggests to no avail. Maps still don’t show with the Twenty Sixteen them and all other plug ins turned off.

    What’s the next step?

    Hi @loco2402,

Thanks for following up! Would you be willing to share a link to an affected page of your site with us so we can take a closer look?

    Thank you!

Was this by chance resolved? Any solution? I am having the same issue. Also de-activated all plugins and set default 2016 theme and still was not working. I even tried setting up the Google API key but to no avail.

    Thanks,
    Wil

Same problem here. I work with the Avada theme and I can’t see the Google map in the individual events.

same error even with all plugins disabled

    Hi,

We can help out here, but to quote the forum guidelines:

Posting your own topic is smiled upon.

If you can create a new post of your own that would be appreciated ??

When you do create your own post please confirm you have followed these guides:

    https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/setting-up-your-google-maps-api-key/

    https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/google-maps-not-showing-up/

And if you are still having issues please provide a link to the issue so we can take a look. So far we have been unable to find a bug and only seen conflicts and API setup issues, but perhaps there is something there and your site can provide more information.

loco2402 please let us know if you can provide a link and we can take a look.

    Thanks

Sorry for posting in another users thread. I was going to post my own ticket but was just able to resolve the issue. I was accidentally creating a server API key in google rather than a browser API key. Just setup the browser API key and all is working as expected now.

    Thanks,
    Wil

    Awesome, thanks Wil!

Ok, I confirm also that it works for me with a API key. Thank’s for you excellent plugin.
    Have a good day.

    Cheers to you as well!

    Sorry for the late response.

Here is a link to a page:
    https://www.datheatreboosters.org/event/fake-event-3/

In looking at wilhud’s response, I am unsure if I created a server or browser key. Will look into that and report back.

    Hi loco2402,

Thanks for the link checking on your site I am seeing this error:

Google Maps API error: RefererNotAllowedMapError https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/error-messages#referer-not-allowed-map-error
Your site URL to be authorized: https://www.datheatreboosters.org/event/fake-event-3/
    https://maps.google.com/maps/api/js?key=&ver=4.5.3
    Line 34

So Google does not recognize your domain.

Try adding your domain in both these formats to the referrer

    *.mydomain.com/*

    *mydomain.com/*

    Cheers
