I recently read that Google Maps is going to become Google Maps Platforms in June.
The 11th to be precise. And that some services won’t be free anymore (API).

So I was wondering if all the users who are currently using your Google Maps plug-in for free on their WordPress site will have to pay something?

And is it going to change anything on the plug-in? (it’s use, etc)

Thanks in advance for your answer!

  • Hi there,

Thank you so much for getting in touch with us.

The API changes introduced by Google Maps boils down to two things:

    1. Google Maps will be grouping their APIs into 3 main products-Maps, Routes and Places.
    2. Their Standard and Premium plans will be combined into one pay-as-you go pricing plan.

On this plan mention, users will get up to 28 000 map requests per month and 40 000 direction calls per month, free of charge.

The only thing required from existing users, is to add a credit card to their Google Console account if they haven’t done so already.

Unfortunately, the changes introduces are completely out of our control.

However, we will be implementing an Open Street Maps integration for the users that would like an alternative solution to Google Maps.

    I hope this helps? ??
