That is the hot question right now, since we’ve been informed by Google that API key v2 won’t work after November 17th… If XML Google Maps stops working, my entire site will lose 70% of it’s functionality ??

I’ve lost 1400 maps (on 1400 posts) today. Is there any update on the v3? Any workaround??

Seems like after Google Maps migration to API v3 XML Google Maps plugin can’t display KML files anymore, only GPX works correctly. Any cure?

I’m really sorry, but I began to update for an hour or so. But that was already the whole time I was able to spend.

KML does not work. GPX works. NextGen Gallery Intergration works too. I’m really suprised that there are some basic functions that still works (thx to Google and its upgrade script)…

I hope you’ll find some more time to work on it eventually to solve the KML problem – it’s been a fantastic plugin for me for years, so simple and useful at the same time, and it would be a pity to have it deprecated because of the Google API switch.

    same for me.

    Hello

By reading this post i can’t determine if there will an update of the plugin or not. Can we have a clear status ?

Because i think i’m waiting maybe in vain and it prevents me to swith to another plugins which do not cover my needs, yours was much much better, it is too bad for us if it is the end.
    Anyway thank you.

    Best regards

So sorry this plugin has broken, I would pay for it now. There literally is nothing else like it out there, I have spent days looking for a replacement but there is nothing that will automatically work with the 500 kml’s I have loaded into my posts.

Has anyone come across anything similar?

I’ve hired a developer who created simple two custom fields for latitude and longtitude, did some coding and the script he wrote inserted all the data from 2000 kml filed into the two custom fields. Than, a simple google maps code (found on forums) showed the maps using the custom field values. Just wanted to say – noone really needs a google maps plugin since it’s done pretty easy without any.

Yes ivantus, the key predisposition for your conclusion is that you “hired a developer”. I’m quite sure that none of us need a plugin if we also decide to hire a developer for our sites. But hiring a developer costs money, probably much more than some hypothetic future shareware version of this plugin could cost.

So I agree with rayrayray – I’m also ready to pay a fair amount if that would insure the future development of this plugin. Probably not as much money as needed for hiring a dedicated developer to work on your site, but certainly a double figure sum in Euros. And if hundreds (if not thousands) of us agree, that would sum up to a solid amount of money.

Bluealek – the developer did it in one hour and the fee was 20eur. The goal is to have as little as possible plugins for stability of your/our wp sites. The only problem here is how to transfer all lat/lon from kml files to custom fields – everything else you can achieve by google searching, believe me.

I’ll contact the dev guy and ask him if he’d sell the script he has written for me and get back to you.

It’s in the reverse direction but that’s close enough to the “offering to pay” section in the forum welcome. I am closing this topic.

These forums really are not for discussing selling of anything regardless of price.

This topic is 2 months old and kind of got all over the place. If you need support for this plugin please feel free to open up your own topic.

Edit: Also this part reinforces that.

I’m also ready to pay a fair amount
