  • Hi Daweb, no, one big network wide news sitemap is not possible. But what you can try is add each subsite’s news sitemap manually to the field “Include custom XML Sitemaps” on the main domain. This will add all subsite news sitemaps to the xml sitemap index (yourdomein.xt/sitemap.xml) on the primary site.

Now at least Google should be aware of the existance of each news sitemap and they should appear in your Google Search Console webmaster tools. However, I don’t know if submitting the main xml sitemap index which is now a mix of normal sitemaps and gNews sitemaps, will be accepted by Google News. You’ll have to test that…

I’ll consider your question as afeature request to have a pure news index on the primary site optional. It’s an interesting feature ??

    Hello RavanH,

what if we will work together to make that feature real?

Yes, why not… I could use your help testing. If you like, you can send me your email address via https://status301.net/contact-en/ so I can send you a first draft extension as a plugin.
