    Hi,

I have a sitemap generated by Yoast which i have submitted to Google webmaster tools. The sitemap was successfully submitted a long time ago. However the sitemap is showing that 5,476 pages have been submitted and only 2,945 pages have been indexed. The number of pages that have been indexed is considerably lower then the amount of pages that have been submitted and i wanted to know why that is? Every time google crawls my sitemap the indexed pages figure never goes up. It always stays the same. I have tried testing the sitemap and everything is fine. I really need some help with this as i am starting to get concerned that pages on my site are not getting indexed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Ultimately Google will, as you have seen, make the final decision on what they include in the search index. You may see a difference between submitted and indexed for all sorts of reasons. This article on why Google doesn’t crawl or index all pages provides more information on the issue.

Due to this being handled on Google’s end, there is little you can do to force Google to index all of your pages. The best advice I can provide, unfortunately, is to follow the guidelines and reach out to Google if you continue to have a large discrepancy between submitted and indexed.
