When setting up Google Pay via the GPay console, you will be asked to provide your business domain name. The Google Pay instructions are misleading, as you do not always need to add the www prefix to your domain name. That is entirely based on your DNS settings.

If you encounter the error message This merchant is not enabled for Google Pay that means your domain name entry in the GPay console is incorrect. Here is how to fix it:

    • If you entered your domain name with a “www” prefix, you will need to remove the “www”. Example: “www.example.com” should be “example.com”.
    • If your domain name entry does not contain the “www” prefix, you will need to add it. Example: “example.com” becomes “www.example.com”.

In summary, when you encounter that error message, you need to either add the “www” prefix or remove it, based on what your current settings in the GPay console are.
