Google Pay not taking website selection for shipping

On my website, customers select their shipping option with price and then select a payment option. If they select Google Pay then the shipping selection they made on my website is ignored and Google Pay uses the first shipping option. Google Pay does show the other shipping options and the customer can re-select what they want. How do I get the Stripe plugin to take the already selected shipping option into Google Payments screen?
