Google Photos API A potential violation of our Acceptable Use Policy

This is the second report of a violation of the AUP that I am seeing. My response on that post was:

You might be encountering this due to a combination of high volume with the fact that you are trying to replicate Google Photos’ functionality via Photonic.

Basically, the API is intended to replicate functionality outside Google Photos, but Google might be drawing a fine line with respect to how your API key might be getting used. Too many calls spread across all your albums might be triggering this.

My guess is, if you have a large number of photos that you are pulling very regularly and frequently, Google might be considering it a violation of their terms and conditions. The first topic on their Acceptable Use Policy says, “Did you build something new, beyond creating a substitute for Google Photos?”, and Google might be treating how you are using Photonic as a violation of their terms and conditions.

You can try appealing with them, but even if your appeal is successful, you might want to rethink how you present your photos, i.e. don’t put them all in one place.
