    Hi,
I configured everything correctly and it is working great for my Google Photos album. However, shared albums do not appear in the Helper. So curious if Shared Albums work or not ? Thank you.

There is nothing in the code that stops shared albums from showing up. See here. Shared albums work if Google is showing them in the Picasa API, which Photonic uses, and up until recently this was the only way to get access to photos. Unfortunately Google’s behavior with shared albums using the Picasa API is erratic – some users have been able to see the albums instantly, some after a delay and some haven’t been able to see them at all. At the end of the day, Photonic is at the mercy of the API.

In May this year Google finally released an API for Google Photos (two years after shutting down Picasa), which apparently works better for shared albums. I am in the process of a rewrite to switch to the new API (just started work 2 days back), but I don’t have an estimate for when it will be ready, as it requires extensive testing from my side.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I will look forward to the integration of Google Photos API. Yes, it is frustrating how Google handled a shut down of a great working product (I still miss the unlisted feature, and an ability to embed an album code) and Google Photos doesn’t have a good API.

    Hi,
I have an update for you. I have wrapped up around 60% of the implementation of the Google Photos module. I am in the process of ensuring the last few bits of functionality are thoroughly tested.

One thing that I haven’t been able to get working are the videos in Google Photos (they work with Picasa), and I have even logged a defect with Google for this.

The APIs are very, very different, so your Picasa shortcode has not way of working for Google. However I am letting both coexist so that you can pick and choose which ones you want to use, and your site will be able to show albums from both.

    Hi,
You can try version 1.68 now, which has support for Google Photos. Do take a look at these links for documentation: https://aquoid.com/plugins/photonic/google-photos/ and https://aquoid.com/plugins/photonic/google-photos/albums.

Let me know if you run into any issues.
