Last night we started getting MANY ‘people’ joining through the website. Obviously they were spam… so I implemented the Gpoogle ReCaptcha on the form but that has really not slowed anything down at all on the spam entries… I have had to deactivate the plugin to stop the issue. Is there ANYTHING I can do to fix this problem because there is really no way I can use this if it continues.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Just email field…
Perhaps I am not understnading thes setting right… I have Email opt-in
    Enabling > Opt-in checkbox: checked
Is that possibly bypassing the opt-in email?

If you have the opt-in setting checked in the admin, then the user will need to check that when submitting, to be submitted to the list. If they don’t, they won’t be submitted.

If you don’t use that opt in setting for the form, and you have a list selected, they should just automatically have their provided email submitted to the list.

Being added to a list in your constantcontact.com account isn’t dependent on the email received, that’s more a convenience notification, that can be disabled. Part of 1.3.6 was sending emails anyway in moments of no connection to an account or no list chosen, and the “disable email” setting being set, to prevent submissions from being lost.

We have the Akismet changes from this thread ready to be released in the next major version, adding to the levels of spam prevention methods we have in place.

Hopefully it continues to add more robustness to the plugin and helps further aid unwelcome contacts from getting through.
