Google Search Console cannot verify site
-
After launching a new version of our clients site Google Search console claims it is unable to verify the site receiving the following message
“Verification failed for https://www.fairfieldresidential.com/ using the Google Analytics method (less than a minute ago). We found a Google Tag Manager snippet in your site. Your Google Analytics snippet is probably managed there. You can verify site ownership with the Google Analytics asynchronous snippet placed in the <head> section of your home page.”
We are using GTM to manage the GA UA tracking code, 2 of them following the same site.
We had selected Footer for the placement of the GTM code. Would like more input on the other 2 choices, especially the one that states “right placement, no tweak” but experimental.
Want to avoid crashing the frontend.
