Google showing wrong description in snippets

This is often an issue when the description you’ve set doesn’t fully match your search query’s keywords. To address this, you’ll first need to learn which queries your visitors use most often to find your pages, and then optimize the descriptions for those. If you use a language for which Google supports synonyms, you can utilize those too.

See the recently updated https://developers.google.com/search/docs/advanced/appearance/good-titles-snippets#create-good-meta-descriptions. Mind the “if”.

Google will sometimes use the <meta> description tag from a page to generate a search results snippet, if we think it gives users a more accurate description than would be possible purely from the on-page content.

Just set and forget. Automattic’s AMP plugin now executes intricate markup fixes, making it very difficult to program for and debug. Nevertheless, everything was OK the last time I checked.
