In brief here is the issue:
We are a nonprofit agency who are intending to open a furniture store where the proceeds will go to prevent homelessness. We have a “deluxe managed WordPress site” (using elementor) hosted on GoDaddy. That site is using woocommerce to list the furniture items. However, often when you add an item to the cart the cart will show as empty for about a minute until you refresh it a few times or click between the shop page and the cart a few times. This is kinda crazy! I’ve experienced it on multiple browsers.

The only thing that I can track it down to is the google site kit plugin. When I disable the plugin everything works smooth. When its enabled – hell. We have a launch this weekend so I may have to just disable the plugin and deal with the consequences.

    URL is svdpid.org/shop

  • @grantsvdpadmin thanks for opening this topic and providing the details.

We’re working on trying to reproduce this issue to address it. This is the trackable Github issue for it:

    https://github.com/google/site-kit-wp/issues/1464

    1) On your site, I can see the issue in an incognito browser. There looks to be a 403 error in the console when the cart is empty: https://jmp.sh/vjp2onQ

It occurs on this WooCommerce request: https://svdpid.org/?wc-ajax=wc_stripe_get_cart_details

I’ll share this with the team to see if this is helpful.

    2) Some have narrowed it down to when they connect Analytics.

Could you disconnect Analytics Site Kit > Settings > Analytics > Edit > Disconnect Analytics from Site Kit and let us know if the issue persists?

    Thread Starter grantsvdpadmin

    (@grantsvdpadmin)

Thank you very much for your prompt response and investigation @reneesoffice

Using your instructions in step 2 I disconnected analytics exactly as mentioned so that only Search Console and Page Speed Insights are the connected services. After that I ran a test and received the same 403 error:

/?wc-ajax=wc_stripe_get_cart_details:1 Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 403 ()

After the test I again disabled the site skit plugin in its entirety until this can be sorted out.

    How shall we move forward?

    Thanks,

    @grantsvdpadmin really appreciate this info.

I just tried on your website now and was able to add an item to the cart without the issue.

To narrow down how to reproduce the issue, could you go through the initial setup flow of Site Kit and do not connect any additional services (only Search Console will be connected).

Let’s then test to see if the issue occurs with the base settings as well.

    Thread Starter grantsvdpadmin

    (@grantsvdpadmin)

@reneesoffice Sounds good! I disconnected site kit from my google account and then reset the plugin. From there I deleted & disactivated it and them re-installed it and activated it.

From there I set it up with the initial setup flow as you suggested. That’s where it is at now, just search console is set up & no other services are connected. From here, I tested the software. It appears to be working. The cart is not caching and not throwing the 403 error. You can see for yourself.

Hopefully this gives some further clues as to the problem source and gets us yet closer to the solution.

@grantsvdpadmin thanks to your helpful feedback, we’ve been able to recreate the issue! Now we’re working on finding the root cause to find a solution. We’ll definitely keep you updated as this progresses.

    (@grantsvdpadmin)

Thank you very much for the update @reneesoffice! I eagerly await your update.

I′m having the exact same issue, I’ve tried everything here, and the same issue is present. pleaselet me know when resolved.

    really apreciate it

@aduran1188 thanks for reaching out. Please feel free to follow this topic or the Github issue for updates. If you’d like us to track your case specifically, please open a new support topic.

@grantsvdpadmin just a quick update that we are in contact with the team at GoDaddy to further troubleshoot the issue, which is on their radar as well. Will continue to keep you updated on our progress.

    Thread Starter grantsvdpadmin

    (@grantsvdpadmin)

@reneesoffice Thank you very much for the update! I eagerly look forward to the solution. It’s been a tough month without any analytics data.

@grantsvdpadmin could you let us know if you are still experiencing the issue?

GoDaddy has released a fix, and I no longer experience the problem on a test site. Thank you!

    Thread Starter grantsvdpadmin

    (@grantsvdpadmin)

@reneesoffice thank you so much! You have been so helpful through this. I have just re-enabled site kit and run several tests. I cannot trigger the Cart Empty error.

    Kindest Regards,
    -Grant

@grantsvdpadmin thanks for following up! That is good to hear!

Please enjoy using Site Kit, reach out if you should have any questions/ concerns, and leave a review if you get a chance.

    Is this still open?

I am having the same issue, but do not have site-kit, simply Google Analytics. Same error, add items to cart, view cart, cart says “Your cart is currently empty” but items appear in cart icon still.

    On Godaddy managed wordpress

We have only been able to replicate once but a refresh( we think) of the browser solved the issue. Haven’t been able to replicate again. However, we have numerous visitors who have had the issue. Godaddy has also not been able to replicate the issue after 30-40 tickets to repair.

At this point, they are of little help, tho you seem to have had better luck with them

    Website- https://bazookabob.com

Installed WP-Rocket(only caching type plugin allowed by Godday) as it instructs to not cache woocommerce pages by default.

    THEME- Beaver Builder

No other caching plugins tho had several installed months ago then deactivated and deleted them.

Wordpress cust service did help me track the issue all the way back to when site first went live (May 2018). Today, I replaced old GA code with Global site tag code so not sure if that could help but it’s costing us 10s & 10s of 1000s to have this issue
