Google Site Kit Error. Analytics logging into wrong account

    I have been reading some other issues surrounding this same Google Site Kit problem, but I can’t seem to fix it.
    When installing Site Kit everything is fine, except for Analytics. When I go to link Analytic I receive the below error:
    Error: We’ve detected there’s already an existing Analytics tag on your site (ID UA-xxxxxxxx-1), but your account doesn’t seem to have access to this Analytics property. You can either remove the existing tag and connect to a different account, or request access to this property from your team.

    This ID UA account is one that I put into the trash previously (around a week earlier) to installing Google Site Kit.
    I have a different ID UA now, but it keeps reverting to the one I put in the trash.

    I have also tried to deactivate, delete plug in, change themes and then reinstall, however the same error comes up.
    I had the Neve theme installed previously, and for the last attempt I put the site to Twenty-Twenty theme.

    I don’t have the programming skills to know what/where to look inside code and make changes unfortunately.

    Sorry to hear you’ve been unable to get Analytics connected to your preferred Analytics property. From inspecting your provided Site Health information I noticed the following plugins, which can be used to inserted your Analytics snippet:

    • Google Analytics for WordPress
    • Head, Footer and Post Injections

    Can you check those plugins for any possible snippet placements containing your old Analytics property ID? In addition it might be worth inspecting your theme configuration and also theme header.php file.

    Let me know if you need any help with the above, or if you have any questions. If you’re able to locate the additional snippet you can remove before attempting to setup Site Kit one more.
